PHILOSOPHY OF MARIA
REGINA SCHOOL
The
philosophy of Maria Regina School is to provide for the
education and gradual growth and development of the whole
child; spiritually, intellectually, socially, emotionally, and
physically; meeting the needs of the individual within a
Christian atmosphere centered on Christ. A child’s beliefs,
attitudes, values, and behavior are developed by his/her parents
who are the child’s first and foremost educators. The Catholic
school aims to provide the child with a climate where faith,
trust, and love for God and others are encouraged, lived, and
witnessed in his/her life.
We, the educators of the
children of Maria Regina School, hold this to be the philosophy
of our school. We believe the primary purpose of a Catholic
school is three-fold:
(1)
to provide the proper atmosphere for
building a Christian faith-community based on one’s relationship
with God, with self, and with others;
(2)
to transmit our faith in Christ to
others by our example and to teach the truths of our Catholic
faith in an atmosphere permeated with Christian values and
attitudes;
(3)
to enable and encourage our students
to make responsible moral decisions
We
believe Catholic educators, both parents and teachers,
have the responsibility to create the proper environment that
will nourish the gift of faith, which God freely gave at
Baptism. We as educators must help the child to accept and
strengthen this God-given gift through attendance at weekly Mass
and the reception of the Sacraments.
The young Christian
fortified by prayer, strengthened by the sacraments of the
Eucharist, Penance, and Confirmation should be prepared to be
and to act as a Catholic witness to his faith in Christ. |
